Welcome at our blog. Here you will find some information about us, the apartment, the district in which we live, and some things to do and see in Lima, as well as some photos of our guests and our guestbook.
We are a german peruvian couple, living in a 2009 constructed building with 18 floors (our apartment is on the 17th floor) facing one of Limas biggest parks (Campo de Marte).
The building combines all amenities of a modern building (24h security etc.) with the privacy of a smaller one - in our part of the building there are only two families living on each floor. Downstairs you will find a pool if you need a quick refresh after a hot day and for those who like to work out a little bit there is also a mini-gym.
We rent out two rooms in our apartment: one of them has his own bathroom attached and the other has a bathroom for your use only right across the floor, opposite the room. (Photos of room 1 and room 2 ). You can use the well equipped kitchen and the washing machine as well as the living room.
There is wireless internet, but no cable TV (we are not great fans of what is offered by privat channels nowadays ... - and surely you are not coming to Lima to watch TV all day), but there are various DVD's with films in english, spanish (in case you want to improve your spanish) and german (in case you want to improve your german too
) for your use (some have subtitles some don't). And besides ... who needs cable in times of the internet .... .
You can use our bicycles too. Lima is not exactly a cyclists dream, but you can give it a try if you want to...
... We can provide you with maps and information of the various museums, parks, tour offers and one day trips ... there is a lot more in and around Lima to see than you find in the normal travel guides !!! And apart from that we are of cause always ready to help you - in english, spanish or german - with every upcoming problem or question you might have.
We are located in Jesús María, one of the most central districts of Lima (see map and wikipedia), well connected to every part of the city (Lima city center, San Isidro, Miraflores....). Jesús María is a friendly, safe and lively neighborhood where you find everything you might need nearby - and in an authentic atmosphere, staying away from the tourist crowds of Miraflores and districts alike. Apart from supermarkets and all kind of shops here you can still find a market to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at normal - non tourist - prices. Different from more "famous" and by tourists and foreigners often fancied districts like Miraflores or San Isidro - where you just going to be one more tourist - in Jesús María you will be able to live like a middle class peruvian and by this get a more authentic impression of a peruvian lifestyle in the capital than you would be able to get in one of the touristy - and more expensive - districts mentioned above.
And in case you all the same will have to go there (work, friends, discos .. ) - they are after all just a quick bus ride away.
